Tom Du Croz from LondonGigGuide selects five small/medium gigs around town this week.
Monday 28 July
Alex Mendham & His Orchestra, King's Cross Station
https://soundcloud.com/amorchestra/red-lips-kiss-my-blues-away
A gig in a train station? Why not. This is not just a chance to hear this amazing 12-piece orchestra — you are also encouraged to get up and dance! And they happen to be The Savoy Hotel's resident orchestra — oooohhhh! @alexmendham, @StPancrasInt
Tuesday 29 July
George Wilding, The Old Queen's Head, Angel
The age of the performer shouldn't be a factor — this is a beautiful track any way you look at it. But when you realize that George Wilding is merely 18, it only adds to this track's weight and emotional pull. You can listen to him tonight at The Old Queen's Head.
Wednesday 30 July
Fourth and Folsom, Hootananny, Brixton
This track is from the band's debut EP which is also called I Won't Fall. They released it last month and it's available to buy on iTunes. Tonight they play this and other songs at the Hootananny. @FourthandFolsom, @HootanannyBrix
Update: the band has had to pull out of this gig, but follow them on Twitter to find out where else they're playing.
Thursday 31 July
The Delta Bombers, The Lexington, Angel
Angry blues from this Las Vegas four piece. The Delta Bombers have smashed stages all over the world, playing 50s rock and roll fused with blues, and rockabilly.
Friday 1 August
Last Lynx, Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen
An indie five-piece from Stockholm. The Swedish have a word, 'Lagom', which roughly translates as 'moderation', but also means well-balanced, in harmony and well-judged. This is a perfectly 'lagom' track (the latter interpretation). @Lastlynxmusic, @HoxtonHQ
