Best Free Gigs To See In London: 19-25 May 2014

Tom Du Croz from LondonGigGuide selects five free gigs around town this week.

Monday 19 May

French for Rabbits, The Finsbury, Manor House

We first chanced across this band a couple of weeks ago and this track really staye with us. Despite the name, French for Rabbits are a New Zealand band, who will be heading home soon, so don't miss them at the Finsbury. It is a free gig but you need to get tickets in advance from this link. @FrenchforRabbit, @TheFinPub.

Tuesday 20 May

Climbing Boys, Shacklewell Arms, Dalston

This is dreamy post punk from east London. The free gig is to launch their new single 'Conjoining Rite'. @climbingboys, @ShacklewellArms

Friday 23 May

High Tyde, The Monarch, Camden

This track is from the 'Trixx' EP, which is available for free download from the band's Soundcloud page. They're a brilliant band from Brighton who will perform in Camden tonight. @wearehightyde, @camdenmonarch

Saturday 24 May

Tankus the Henge & Gypsy Dynamite, The Hootananny, Brixton

This weeks DOUBLE BILL. Tankus the Henge - purveyors of excellent carnival/gypsy/baltic swing. They are know for their rabble rousing live performances. Gypsy Dynamite - playing a wide repertoire of gypsy jazz, spanish and Italian music all rearranged in and performed with gusto! The gig is free if you arrive before 10pm. @tankusthehenge, @GypsyDynamite, @HootanannyBrix

Sunday 25 May

Mara Simpson, The Harrison, Kings Cross

This track is this week's shameless favourite. Listening to this woman's voice is like being wrapped in a warming inviting quilt, you should definitely see her performance at The Harrison. @MaraDMusic, @theharrisonfolk
