Tom Du Croz from LondonGigGuide selects his recommended small and medium-sized gigs around town this week.
Monday 14 April
Rudy & The Blu's, The Lexington, Angel
This guy is an amazing bluesman. He is only 18 but his voice and musicianship are those of a far more mature performer. I can't wait to see how his career develops. More details on The Lexington's website.
Tuesday 15 April
Kid Wave, Shacklewell Arms, Dalston
Dreamy, surf guitar, indie, gorgeousness. NME likes this band so much it put them on at one of its nights at KOKO last year. More info on Facebook.
Wednesday 16 April
Lottie Zttar, Paper Dress Vintage, Shoreditch
Have a listen to the track Purple Perfume, from her forthcoming debut album which is being launched at this event. There are promises of cake and edible flowers so get there early! More details on Lottie Zttar's Facebook page.
Thursday 17 April
General Skank, Hootananny, Brixton
The Hootananny has a great reputation for its reggae nights. These guys are a six piece from London who only formed last year. They are playing with two other equally great reggae bands that night. More info on the Hootenanny website.
Friday 18 April
The Din, The Magic Garden, Battersea Park
Don't judge a band by its name! These guys are not an experimental noise band but instead peddle their own blend of folky fiddle, flamenco guitar and indie vocals. It is a strange combination but it really works. Read more on the Magic Garden website.
Saturday 19 April
Daze Train, Road Trip, Angel
This is an Essex band whose music is led by the power and depth of the vocals from singer Jennifer Young. More info on the Road Trip website.
Sunday 20 April
Saint Agnes, The Lexington, Angel
This is a brilliant band! Their tracks are dripping in passion and power. Surely it is just a matter of time before a gritty Brit-flick uses their tunes for a soundtrack. More info and book via the Lexington's website.
