Woman Dies Overnight In Storm

Another stormy night and we awake to check the damage – again. The main awful news is that a woman has died after the fascia of a building near Holborn tube station collapsed on her car. A man who was also in the car was taken to hospital and three others were injured in the same incident.

London Fire Brigade is working to stop the water treatment plant in Purley from flooding. The plant supplies water to 47,000 properties and there's stuff in the floodwater you really don't want coming out of the taps.

The Central line is suspended between Ealing Broadway and North Acton because of damage at Ealing Broadway station and there are all kinds of problems on the trains because of fallen trees and flooding:

  • Very few Southeastern trains are currently running and the advice is not to travel before 11am
  • Southern trains aren't serving Battersea Park station because of wind damage and there's disruption across the whole network
  • First Great Western, already disrupted out of Paddington because of flooding, is advising passengers not to travel until further notice
  • A landslip north of Banbury is affecting Chiltern trains out of Marylebone
  • Damage to overhead lines means a reduced Virgin Trains service from Euston
  • Overhead wire damage is blocking one of the northbound lines between Kings Cross and Stevenage, leading to East Coast delays
  • There's an obstruction on the line north of Watford that's affecting London Midland trains

It might also be wise to keep in touch with @TfLBusAlerts on Twitter to find out where roads are blocked because of fallen trees and unsafe buildings.
