So as well as a pop-up Christmas cinema coming to Vauxhall, Pop Up Screens (who normally do outdoor films in the summer) takes over the 20th Century Theatre in Notting Hill for eight days of Christmas celluloid magic.
Take your pick from 22 screenings, including two of - as far as Londonist is concerned - the Greatest Film Of All Time By Some Margin, The Muppets Christmas Carol. Other traditional family movies are available, like Home Alone 1 and 2, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the magnificent Elf and Santa Clause: The Movie, which for some reason we adored when we were kids*.
For grown ups, there's Bad Santa, Love Actually, Finnish horror-fantasy Rare Exports and Die Hard. Because nothing says Christmas like Alan Rickman wanting to know where his detonators are.
A bar will sell mulled wine and alcoholic hot chocolate as well as the usual booze, and expect a sprinkling of snow on the ground. Screenings take place 13-20 December at 1.30pm, 5pm and 8.30pm, tickets cost £5-£16. Find out more at the Pop Up Screens website.
