Take A Twilight Tour Of Apsley House

Apsley House, the old home of the Duke of Wellington, is opening late for tours by torchlight this month.

Each Wednesday in October the 18th century mansion opens its doors at 6pm (it usually closes at 5pm) for guided tours round the Regency interior. Also worth seeing is the art collection – originally owned by the King of Spain and, er, liberated first by Napoleon's brother and then by the Iron Duke – which contains works by Correggio, Velázquez, Goya and Murillo.

These Twilight Tours are one of your last chances to go into Apsley House (or Number One, London to give it its other name) before it closes for a winter-long refurbishment on 4 November.

Twilight Tours of Apsley House, Hyde Park Corner, run 9, 16, 23 and 30 October 6-8pm. Tickets cost £12 / £10.80. For more information see the English Heritage website.
