As autumn advances and the nights get longer, why not embrace the darkness with a couple of special after-hours, adult-only events in two of London's most popular attractions.

SEA LIFE London Aquarium

Cocktails or cockles? Pints or piranhas? Shiraz or sharks? At London Aquarium’s SEA LIFE After Dark event you won’t have to choose, so dip beneath the surface for a VIP late opening.

Enjoy a welcome cocktail upon arrival, before acquainting yourself with the penguins, crocodiles and jellyfish that reside within. Steel yourself to walk through the glass walkway with sharks swimming inches from you, meet the Aquarium’s friendliest residents in the Ray Lagoon, and finish your evening in the Atlantic Cove area where you will find gourmet street food stalls, a fully-stocked bar and DJ.

It’s not every day you get to catch up with friends surrounded by turtles and stingrays, plus it is the only SEA LIFE After Dark event being hosted this year.

SEA LIFE After Dark takes place on Friday 27 September from 6.45pm. Tickets start from £15, visit the website to book tickets and for more information.

London Dungeon

If you prefer terror to turtles, then this second after dark event may be the one for you. Book ahead for a late night, VIP experience of the new, bigger, bolder London Dungeon.

Quell your nerves with a drink on arrival, before taking a 90 minute journey through 1000 years of London’s murky past. Wind your way through misty alleys, murderous back streets and plague-ridden houses in this fully immersive experience. We’re talking 360° sets, special effects, and a host of talented actors who want to get those knees of yours trembling.

If that doesn’t get you quivering, then perhaps the two exciting thrill rides, Drop Dead and Henry’s Wrath, will (the latter of which features Brian Blessed’s disembodied head - now that’s scary stuff).

London Dungeon After Dark takes place on Friday 1 November with timed entrances from 7.15pm. Tickets start from £15, visit the website to book tickets and for more information.
