50th Anniversary Talks At The National Theatre

The National Theatre has two excellent strands of talks coming up to mark its 50th anniversary, from 1 October.

In National Histories, 16 pairs of actors, playwrights and directors team up to share their memories and experiences of working at the National. If you like theatre then all the line-ups are likely to induce at least minor palpitations; but we've picked out real-life couple Imelda Staunton and Jim "Carson" Carter on 4 October, Nicholas Hytner and Rory Kinnear on 18 October, Richard Eyre and Julie Walters on 24 October and Alan Bennett and Frances de la Tour on 23 October. This latter doesn't go on sale until Wednesday 25 September, and we will bet our signed copy of The History Boys that it sells out within hours.

Scene Changes talks are more concerned with the mechanics of theatre. These lunchtime discussions look at some of the developments and changes in theatre, both off and on stage, over the past 50 years. Guests are designers, directors, composers and critics and include Rae Smith, Dominic Cooke and Michael Billington.

Tickets cost £4 or £3 concessions. For more information and to book see the National Theatre's 50th anniversary website.
