On 23 July 2011, celebrated singer and songwriter Amy Winehouse passed away. 14 September 2013 would have been her 30th birthday and to mark the occasion, the Amy Winehouse Foundation is putting on a series of events throughout September to celebrate the life of the songstress, and raise awareness about the work done by the foundation.
The series, entitled #Amys30, will mostly take place in Amy’s home town of Camden. There is a great amount going on so do take a look at the full listings. Highlights include:
- Art exhibitions looking at Amy’s life and career, at The Jewish Museum and Proud Gallery Camden.
- A sing-along, Amy Winehouse-themed night with live band and special guests at Gilgamesh in Camden on 13 September.
- Rock’n’Roll Camden walking tours throughout the month (with a special Amy Winehouse tour on 14 September).
- A tribute show on 14 September at The Phoenix Arts Club, with musicians re-imagining songs from Amy’s classic album, Back to Black.
- A vintage fair at The Jewish Museum, with 12 specially selected stalls offering 50s and rockabilly fashion, until 15 September.
- A pop-up shop on Camden High Street with limited edition merchandise and daily events such as guitar and vintage styling lessons. Between 26-30 September.
- Plus cabaret nights, street parties, live music events, themed-bowling and more.
All events taking place will help raise money for the Amy Winehouse Foundation, an organisation set up in 2011 by Amy's dad, that works to prevent those suffering from the effects of drug and alcohol misuse.
