The Lord Mayor's Big Curry

One of London's more unusual dining experiences comes round again on 18 April, with the Lord Mayor's Big Curry lunch. This spicy extravaganza takes place in the splendour of the Guildhall, where guests can break naan with "city professionals, members of both Houses of Parliament, the Senior Officers of the British Army, Ambassadors and High Commissioners and the Masters of the City’s Livery Companies". And, of course, the Lord Mayor himself. In other words, not your usual dining companions.

Despite the eminent guest list, the event is surprisingly informal, and open to anyone who wants to buy a ticket. It's £95 per head, which includes a buffet lunch, beer and wine. But the high cover price is really to help raise money for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity’s Current Operations Fund, which provides assistance to military personnel affected recent conflicts.

The Lord Mayor's Big Curry lunch is at Guildhall on 18 April, from 11.50am. Tickets here.
