Things to do for a fiver or less this week.

Monday 18 February

DISCO: Join the bicycle-powered children's disco in the Clore Ballroom at Royal Festival Hall. Free, just turn up, starts 11.30am.

CHAPS IN SKIRTS: The Sohemian Society finds out about Fanny and Stella, The Young Men Who Shocked Victorian England from author Neil McKenna at the King and Queen pub, Foley Street. Entry £4, just turn up, from 7.30pm.

Tuesday 19 February

SOCIOLOGY: Anthony Giddens gives a public lecture Off the edge of history: the world in the 21st century at Sheikh Zayed Theatre, LSE. Free, just turn up, starts 6.30pm.

Wednesday 20 February

FASHION: The Designer Jumble Sale opens as London Fashion Week closes, with designer bargains galore — up to 90% off designer clothes and accessories, some new, some secondhand, helping to raise money for London-based charity JustForKids Law. Takes place at the Church of the Annunciation, Marble Arch. Free entry, open from 10am-8pm.

FILM: Talkies Community Cinema screen The Blues Brothers at the Fox Pub, Palmers Green. Live music comes courtesy of the Vintage Blues Club before and after the film.  Tickets £5+bf, prebook or take your chances, starts 7pm.

Thursday 21 February

UKES: sing to a band of ukeleles at KaraUke at the Royal George, Goslett Yard. This month it's in aid of the British Heart Foundation's 'Rock Up in Red' campaign. Wear something red, and bring a small donation for the fantastic British Heart Foundation. Otherwise, it's free entry, starts 7.30pm.

Friday 22 February

WASSAIL: Join the London Orchard Project's Wassailing party at Alara Wholefoods, 108-112 Camley Street, Kings Cross. There will be bands, mulled cider, apple fritters and porridge, a fire, fireworks and singing and banging to wake up the Kings Cross orchard. Free, just turn up, starts 5pm.

Saturday 23 February

HARINGEY: Find out about Haringey’s history with local experts and guest speakers at Haringey Local History Fair at Bruce Castle Museum. Free, just turn up, from 11am-4.40pm.

Sunday 24 February

FAMILY FUN: The ViewTube on the Greenway by the Olympic Park has reopened and to celebrate and round off half-term there's a free family workshop with games, art activities and a mega domino rally. Free, just turn up, from 11am-3pm.

DOCUMENTARY: Docklands Cinema Club screens shorts about policing national borders at Museum of London, Docklands. Screenings are free but book your place, runs 2-4pm.

LAST CHANCE: To visit Death: A Self Portrait at Wellcome Collection. Free just turn up, from 11am-6pm.
