You won't be picking up the keys for another four years, but if you want to live in the first phase of apartments being built on the grounds of Battersea Power Station, now's the time to start making friends with your bank manager: they go on sale at 10am on 10 January.
Designed by architects DRMM and Ian Simpson, the development, officially dubbed Circus West, comprises eight buildings and is made up of 800 residences, ranging from studio apartments to three-bedroom penthouses and townhouses. Predictably, given the prestige of the site and the riverside locale, they don't come cheap. The cheapest studio will set you back £338,000; by way of comparison, the average flat price in Wandsworth is £387,000, while the nine penthouses are expected to fetch in excess of £6 million each. If you want a slice of the action, be prepared to slap down a £2,500 "booking fee" and 10% of the property value.
By 2024, when the redevelopment is completed, the Battersea site will comprise over 2,400 homes (the highest profile, and most expensive, being built on top of the power station's restored roof), offices, shops and two hotels, all served by a new Northern line extension curving south out of Kennington via Nine Elms.
