Visit Greenwich This Christmas

This is a sponsored post on behalf of Visit Greenwich.

There are plenty of things to see in Greenwich over the Christmas period this year.

Take a trip to Greenwich Market and pick up some festive presents from one of the many stalls selling individual and quirky gifts as well as hot drinks and food to warm up those coming in from the cold. Greenwich Market is usually open Tuesdays to Sundays, but Greenwich Market at Christmas will be open every day from 10-24 December, with up to 150 stalls offering quirky gifts and festive treats.

At the Market, Father Christmas will be in his Greenwich Grotto on Saturday 15, Sunday 16, Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 December. Kids can meet Santa, chatting to his friendly elf beforehand. There will also be a special post box where children can post their letters to Father Christmas.

In Greenwich Theatre, the Christmas panto "Robin Hood" is showing until 6 January. Andrew Pollard returns in a star turn as Marian’s nanny for an all-singing, all-dancing show that’s packed with high-energy performances and razor sharp comedy.

Part of Greenwich’s festive tradition, St Alfege Church will be displaying its lovely Advent Windows throughout December. Local residences and businesses unveil a window display for each day of advent, and each design is based on a theme chosen by the vicar.

The best way to discover Greenwich is simply to walk around and explore - the Greenwich Quizmas Trail runs from the Tourist Information Centre from 8-31 December and takes visitors around all of the historical landmarks of Greenwich, answering questions along the way. Those who answer all the questions correctly will be entered into a prize draw to win a night’s stay at the Mercure London Greenwich and a family pass to An Evening with the Stars at the Peter Harrison Planetarium.
