London To Host 2017 IPC Athletics World Championships

World class Paralympic sport will return to the Olympic Stadium in just a few years' time thanks to London winning the bid to host the 2017 IPC Athletics World Championships.

The competition will take place in July 2017, just a month before we also host the IAAF World Athletics Championships, making for another back-to-back bonanza of ace athletics action.

The championship double-whammy will hopefully give those who missed out on a seat in the Olympic Stadium during London 2012 an alternative opportunity to enjoy it. Another sell-out situation seems likely, given that Rio 2016 will have stirred up sporting fervour and our Olympic and Paralympic memories all over again.

It will also be an opportunity for the world to peer at our Olympic legacy, so let's hope the repurposed Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, scheduled to reopen in 2014, will be well-established and looking as stunning as it did during this year's summer of sport.

We'll add this good news into our What Can London Look Forward To Now The Games Are Over post.
