With Halloween just gone, it's an appropriate time to present a selection of images from London's many cemeteries. Yet the result is mostly bright and beautiful rather than spooky.

Next to the noble grey stone of Highgate Cemetery and others, the greenery or autumnal colours of the city's graveyards make for hushed, contemplative photographs.

All images from the Londonist Flickr pool: Catherine Ames, Flamenco Sun (x2), Stephen Iliffe (x2), Alan E Taylor, Peter H (x2), Kevin McLean and Robin Baumgarten.
