Some used to be bendy, a few today are rather well designed, most are utterly unremarkable. After all, buses are probably London's least exalted form of transport.

But the ubiquitous red boxes are an inescapable part of the visual tapestry of the city and our lives. Here are 10 images showing London buses in all their usefulness, frustration (see image five) and ordinariness.
