Yet another burger place opens in Soho this weekend, 1 December. But this one at least has a slightly unusual back story: it's the first London branch of BRGR.CO, a Beirut chain. Lebanon's contribution to the culinary arts doesn't often take  hamburger form, so we'll be interested to see what (if anything) the newcomer does to set itself apart from what has become an overstuffed corner of the market. Plans for a King's Road branch are also underway.

Not enough burger news for you? Maybe the news that another roving pop-up has gone and laid down bricks 'n mortar roots, in the form of Patty & Bun, who open their restaurant near Bond Street on 30 November, will sate your meaty appetite. We've heard that they're offering 20% off the food bill until 6 December.

Popular Mexican restaurant Lupita has a new Spitalfields location, opening this week in Commercial Street. Owned by the folk behind Mexico City's well-loved El Farolito, Lupita's original Villier's Street branch has been in business for a couple of year, and claims to offer London's "first truly authentic Mexican restaurant", a boast made credible by their welcome policy of employing staff who hail from south of the Rio Grande. The new east London space has an underground mezcaleria — one to take in on our next mezcal bar crawl.

Sticking with the Latin American theme, ingeniously named Peruvian pop-up The Last Days of Pisco (which we were very impressed with on our visit in the summer) returns on 7 December, this time in Dalston. In an unlikely bit of geographical cross-pollination, they're popping up at the Hackney Cypriot Association on Balls Pond Road, where a £15 ticket will cover your food requirements.

Want to see London's "biggest mince tart"? (Oh, do behave). Then head down to Borough Market on Sunday 2 December, where the trader Bread Ahead will be knocking up a traditional mince tart filling will be made using an Elizabethan recipe, which adds beef to the mixture. It's all part of the market's Stir Up Sunday.
