Stuff to do for a fiver or less this week.


Monday: The Inside Out Festival runs all week — tonight, have a look at the Metroland photo exhibition at Goodenough College and have a look at the boat in the quadrangle of King's College Strand campus (free).

Watch the world premier of a film exposing local council outsourcing: Barnet The Billion Pound Gamble at the Phoenix Cinema, East Finchley from 6pm (£1 admission).

Tuesday: Jonny Dexter Group play music influenced by the West Coast School of jazz at Ray's Jazz, Foyles, Charing Cross Road between 6-7pm (free).

Wednesday: The Sohemian Society host a talk about London character, Edwardian Artist and Occultist Austin Osman Spare at The Wheatsheaf, Rathbone Place from 7pm (£3).

Thursday: Discover the art galleries of Fitzrovia with live art performances, talks, tours and 'in conversations' as part of Fitzrovia Lates from 6-9pm (free).

Friday: Join Stitch London to knit a beanie hat for St Mungo's Woolly Hat Day at Broadgate Circle from 7pm (free).

Saturday: Find the fastest man in Brixton at the Brixton Bolt on Pope's Road from 11am (free to watch).

Whitechapel Gallery Family Day means opportunities for you and the kids to paint, draw, dance and follow a trail around the gallery from 12-4pm (free).

Join players and cheerleaders from NFL teams, St. Louis Rams and the New England Patriots as they get ready for Sunday's Wembley fixture with a fan rally in Trafalgar Square from 12-5pm (free).

Sunday: Celebrate Diwali in Trafalgar Square with music, dance and lots of light from 2-7pm (free).
