Plans To Secure London Pride's Future

Boris Johnson is trying to find a non-profit organisation to run Pride for the next five years. This year's celebration, which also incorporated World Pride, was a very scaled-down affair after organisers hit financial difficulties.

An announcement from City Hall invites community-based groups to submit plans to run the event. There will be financial support of £650,000 to 2018 made up of a grant, free use of Trafalgar Square and staff support from the Greater London Authority. The Mayor hopes to announce the winner in the new year; but this would pre-empt a London Assembly investigation into what went wrong this year, and presumably the group would be chosen before any recommendations are known. Regardless, if you've got anything you want the Assembly committee to know they're accepting comments until 1 November.
