Things To Do In London On The Cheap: 17-23 September

Monday: Listen to gypsy swing three-piece, the Giacomo Smith Trio play Ray’s Jazz at Foyles between 6-7pm (free).

Tuesday: Peckham and Nunhead Free Film Festival continues all week but tonight they're in the Peckham Centre for Wildlife Gardening with a doco on the Unnatural History of London from 8pm. PLUS brilliant local restaurant Ganapti is doing free food (free & free!).

City & Cripplegate Photographic Society present Mainly Street (photography) a talk by Dave Mason at City YMCA, 8 Errol Street, EC1Y 8LX at 6.45pm (£5 suggested donation).

Wednesday: Experience the BE OPEN Sound Portal in Trafalgar Square between 8.30am-10pm, part of the London Design Festival (free).

Thursday: The Penny Lectures return to Morley College marking the 130th anniversary of the lecture series that gave birth to Morley College with a talk by Dr Jonathan Miller and a presentation by Lambeth Archives about the college's founder (ticket prices have been kept at 1882 levels - just 1p, available on the door)

Friday: Visit the London Design Festival hub at the V&A which stays open till 10pm (free).

Saturday: Are you ready for Open House Weekend?

Bermondsey Street Festival brings market stalls, a kids' fancy dress parade, maypole dancing, mummers, a dog show and more to Bermondsey Square and beyond from 11am (free).

Sunday: Admire the Groaning Table of seasonal homemade and homegrown produce, take a forage walk, play the tombola and get facepainted at Harvest Festival at Spitalfields City Farm between 1-4pm (free).
