Preview: Bethnal Green’s Affordable Vintage Fair @ York Hall

If this week’s weather has had you scratching your head for what to wear, perhaps a wardrobe update is in order this weekend.

If you’re a fan of vintage finds, you’re in luck. Bethnal Green’s Affordable Vintage Fair returns tomorrow, bringing a century of superb stock to your doorstep. The fair’s formula is as follows: handpick exciting vintage traders and designer makers from all over the UK, check them for eclectic, affordable vintage stock and gather them together, if just for a day.

And it’s not just clothes. At the fair you can find posters and prints, old-school sewing patterns, accessories, textiles, vinyl, furniture and more.

Even if you’re not in the shopping mood, there’s fun to be had at the Powder Puff Girls’ stall offering retro hair and make-up treatments from £5; entertainment from the Tootsie Rollers and The Tassel Club showcasing hula-hoopers, gymnasts and jugglers; and music courtesy of the DJs from Glue spinning disco, Motown and old-school classics. There’ll be refreshments from the Tea Boys at Just My Cup of Tea (think something more exotic that your usual cuppa) and from a Crabbie’s pop-up bar.

Bethnal Green's Affordable Vintage Fair is on Sunday 30 September at York Hall, Old Ford Rd, London, E2. It opens for earlybirds at 11:30; or from 12-5pm for everyone else. Entrance costs £3 for earlybirds and £2 after that. Visit judysvintagefair.co.uk for more info.
