London Beer Festival Round-Up: September

After all the excitement of the GBBF and the bank holiday, September is a quieter month for beer festivals. There are still plenty worth visiting, however, and we've highlighted a selection below.

7-9 September

The Beehive, St John's Hill. 10-12 Casks of real ale will be on offer at the pub's beer festival, alongside a selection of bottled beers. On Sunday the event will coincide with the street party of the St John's Hill Festival.

12-16 September

The Foxley Hatch, Purley. This Wetherspoons pub is hosting a Dark Star beer festival,  in which seven beers from the Dark Star brewery will be available from £2.15 per pint.

20-23, 27-30 September

London Oktoberfest, Kennington Park. It's not exactly a real-ale festival, but if you think that short leather trousers are an integral part of the drinking experience, then this pop-up event is for you. Inside the tent in Kennington Park you'll find a traditional Oktoberfest set-up,  including bier (£3 per half pint), Bavarian snacks, long benches and live music. You can even rent traditional costume from their wardrobe. Entry is free, or £5 on Saturdays.

22 September

Sambrooks' 4th Birthday Party, Battersea. Celebrate the brewery's birthday with ales, music and food between 1-6pm. They will also be launching a new beer at the event. Tickets are £10, see their website for details.

26-29 September

St Albans Beer Festival, The Alban Arena. Slightly outside the M25, but worth a look thanks to the quantity and quality of beer on offer. Around 300 ales, as well as ciders, perries and foreign beers will be available from 11am-11pm every day. Food is also available and live bands will play at selected times. CAMRA members are admitted free, otherwise entry is £3 or £4 on Saturday.

26-30 September

The Bricklayer's Arms, Putney. Featuring more than 100 ales from Kent, this beer festival also promises live entertainment on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. A £2 returnable deposit is required for glasses.
