London 2012 Lowdown: Sunday 5 August

During the London 2012 Games we'll bring you a daily heads-up on what's happening where, including sporting and cultural events, transport and weather.

Top things to see and do

  • Cheer on the Olympic Women’s Marathon on the streets of London from 11am (free).
  • It’s Wild Bird Week at the RAF Museum, Hendon with falconry displays on the helipad throughout the day (free).
  • Bouncy Stonehenge visits Barra Hall Park, Hillingdon (free).
  • Watch the biggest film to come out of Jamaica, The Harder They Come, at Portobello Pop Up Cinema as its Staycation series of movies gets underway (£5).
  • Remember, during the Olympics, BT London Live is free to access in Hyde Park and Victoria Park plus there are big screens in Potters Fields, Walthamstow Town Square, and General Gordon Square, Woolwich.

Transport hotspots

12pm: There are currently no trains in and out of Kings Cross because of a power failure. 12.45pm: trains are now running again, but expect delays as services get back to normal.

Much of the City, Embankment and central Westminster will be closed to traffic during the day to cater for the Women's Marathon event. See a map of the route here (PDF).

See Transport for London's 'heat maps' for the busiest stations on any given day.
