London 2012 Lowdown: Friday 3 August

During the London 2012 Games we'll bring you a daily heads-up on what's happening where, including sporting and cultural events, transport and weather.

Top things to see and do

  • The Camden Fringe is back for the summer. 14 venues with opera, stand-up comedy, physical theatre and puppet shows (until 26 August, tickets for £5-12).
  • Pop into County Hall where Japan says thank you with an open house, Arigato in London. Open daily all week till Sunday (free).
  • Africa Fashion Week comes to Spitalfields Market for two days of catwalk shows and designer exhibitions (free entry but register for shows).
  • Take an hour-long guided tour at Lincolns Inn, including visits to the Old Hall, Great Hall and Chapel (first Friday of every month from 2pm, £5).
  • The movie classic, Chariots of Fire returns to the big screen at several venues until 9 August (part of London 2012 Festival, tickets from £7.85).
  • Tate Modern's new exhibition space, The Tanks offers a programme of live art, performance, installation and film works until 28 October (part of London 2012 Festival, free).

Transport hotspots

8am: the Central line is currently suspended Liverpool Street to Leytonstone because of a signal failure, with severe delays on the rest of the line. Best bet if you're heading to the Olympic Park is to take the District line to West Ham — it's a 20 minute walk from there.

See Transport for London's 'heat maps' for the busiest stations on any given day.

Sport highlights

See BBC Sport for full details of all events.

Weather

It will be dry and sunny in the morning, but later on clouds and showers are expected, even some heavy, thundery ones in the late afternoon. Min. 15, max. 21 degrees.
