Instagram Your Friendly Actions

Towards the end of last year, a YouGov poll found that British people thought London was the second most unfriendly city in the world (beaten only by Paris. Mais bien sûr). After two weeks of Games Makers being welcoming and justifiably lauded we're tempted to raise an appropriate finger to that poll, but that would rather undermine the message...

Instead, the Department of Friendliess* has set up a project to showcase London's fluffier side. Just Instagram your friendly gestures and tag them with #DoF12 – the best will end up on train station digital screens and at the Getty Images Gallery between 18-23 August.

So give someone a hug, a balloon, a cookie, directions – keep the friendliness going. There's all this talk of legacy, could Londoners remembering we don't really hate each other be it?

*May not be a real government department
