You'll need something to look forward to in the autumn, once the Olympic circus has left town. So why not check out the gigs on sale this week?
Kasabian have slotted a date at O2 Academy Brixton in between their various festival shows this summer. Expect a quick sell-out for the gig, which takes place on 20 August. Tickets £30 + bf.
Gothic rock group Evanescence have some seriously loyal fans. And they'll no doubt flock to Wembley Arena on 9 November when flamboyant front woman Amy Lee takes to the stage with the rest of her band. Tickets £30 + bf.
Having played two Brixton dates in June, Jack Black's Tenacious D have decided to visit HMV Hammersmith Apollo in the autumn. They'll be supporting their third album, the appallingly-named Rize of the Fenix. Catch them there on 24 October. Tickets £35 + bf.
Last year's release of Joss Stone's fifth album, LP1, was somewhat overshadowed when the singer found herself at the centre of a sinister news story. She's back this year with a new CD of covers, and will play O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire on 5 September. Tickets £25 + bf.
Five-piece US pop-punkers Motion City Soundtrack play beneath the arches at Heaven on 17 September. The band's latest material has a poppier sound and has received mixed reviews. See how it translates to a live setting for £15 + bf.
Finally, if you're at a loose end this evening, get your skates on and you might still be able to get tickets on the door for Charlotte Gainsbourg at Somerset House.
Also booking this week: Sebastien Tellier, INME and Lynryd Skynyrd.
