Things To Do In London On The Cheap: 16-22 July


Monday: Watch the Royal Ballet's brand new work Metamorphosis: Titian 2012 on the big screens in Trafalgar Square and Canada Square Park, Canary Wharf from 7.30pm (free).

Tuesday: Go in search of Islington's Lost Cinemas with artist Sam Nightingale as part of Islington Exhibits from 6.30-8pm (free, please book).

Wednesday: Roots and Shoots in Kennington opens late for the National Gardens Scheme between 6-8pm (adults £2, kids £1).

Be at Smoke's launch of the Wonderful London DVD at Rough Trade East from 6.45pm (free).

Unlock the Secrets of New Cross Past with Uncovered Archive in the basement of New Cross Learning from 7.30-9.30pm (free).

Thursday: Have a laugh at Wellcome Collection with Treats on Laughter - two sessions from 4pm and 7pm (free but please book).

Friday: Watch lo-fi film at Portobello Pop Up Cinema under the Westway with a Kino special edition "best of" open mike short film session and a screening of Night and the City (suggested donation £4).

Saturday: Head to the Whitecross Street Party for street art, live art demos, comedy, theatre and "community led disorganisation" from 12-6, and on Sunday (free).

Go to the London Scarecrow Championships and see the Ice Cream Van at Hackney City Farm from 2-5pm (free).

Shoreditch Festival hits Regents Canal with theatre, dance, art and storytelling plus welcome the One Hackney Festival Parade at 11am and the Olympic torch on Kingsland Road at 4pm (free).

Sunday: Try all sorts of dance classes at Pineapple Dance Studios' Open Day between 10am-5pm (free).
