The Opening Ceremony melted the heart of many a cynic, and the general mood around town is noticeably more optimistic now the Games are off to a successful start. But not everyone is a convert. Photographer José Farinha followed the Counter Olympic torch relay on Friday and a separate Whose Games? Whose city? protest on Saturday, and sends us these shots. If you're sick of the whole jamboree and want to join like-minded people, check out the Counter Olympics Network.

I can understand where these folks are coming from and I do sympathise with them. Still I just don't have the heart to miss out on all the Olympics fun and I may not live long enough for the next time the Olympics will be held in London again.
