Things To Do In London On The Cheap This Half Term: 4-10 June


Monday: Head for Horniman Museum and Gardens for an outdoor concert at the Bandstand, family art fun in the museum, the Body Adorned exhibition and you can explore the newly reopened gardens(all free).

There's a family friendly right royal knees up at the Water Poet pub, Spitalfields with live variety performances, fancy dress, flags and that plus some Pearlies and all the usual pub stuff from midday till 6pm (free entry).

Tuesday: Set the kids to work making a massive Queen's Corgi in the Clore Ballroom at the Royal Festival Hall (free0 then wander round the World Street Food festival and find some lunch (free entry).

Wednesday: Watch Wallace and Gromit at 12.15pm at an outdoor screening at Broadgate Circle, thanks to Rich Mix. They're showing 'Made in Britain' flicks al fresco at lunch time and tea-time (5.45pm) till Friday lunch (free).

Thursday: The Ragged School Museum is putting on two days of family activities inspired by Queen Victoria's jubilee, Jubilissimee! On Wednesday and Thursday 10am-5pm (free).

Friday: Watch the first Euro 2012 matches and enjoy traditional folk and Gypsy music from Transylvania afterwards at Rich Mix, Bethnal Green Road, as part of their 20-day East is East festival of football and Eastern European culture (free entry).

Saturday: Visit the London Green Fair in Regent's Park on Saturday and Sunday for live entertainment, festival spirit and information about all things eco-friendly (free).

The second of two Wandle Jubilee Weekends means arts, crafts, history, walks, wildlife and a community picnic (free).

Watch and try dance in a library with Paper Solo by Secondhand Dance in Canada Water library from 11.30am (free).

Sunday: Watch animations and films made by and for young people (£2), make shadow puppets (£2) or go to a Comics Workshop (free!) at Holloway Arts Festival's Sunday Best at Platform, Hornsey Road N7.
