Curse them. Smart phones have ruined our lives, turning us into tiny screen addicts who stare moronically at texts, emails or angry birds rather than at the life going on around us.

All the considerable benefits of smart phones — not having to carry an A to Z, instant messaging or indeed reading Londonist on the move — seem redundant when couples sit at restaurant tables ignoring each other, a common sight.

For street photographers though, the obliviousness of smart phone addicts make them excellent potential subjects, especially when a group of Londoners are staring at their devices at the same time, as documented by the opening image.
