Comedy Preview: Comedy In The Cafe @ Foyles

Tickets for smallish, pub-based comedy gigs usually cost around a fiver and for your money you get to see three or four comedians. But what if you could spend a fiver, see three or four comedians and get something useful to take home with you?

That's the premise behind a new gig at Foyles. If you buy any book (from Foyles, obviously) worth at least £4.99, your receipt gets you entry to see not three, not four, but five excellent comedians. Chris Coltrane, who also runs Lolitics, hosts what could easily be an erudite evening but we bet there's at least one knob gag. Bridget Christie (pictured), John-Luke Roberts, Tiernan Douieb and also-an-author Nat Luurtsema are four of the smartest, savviest comics around; a highly appropriate line-up.

Bring your book as well, it'll be fun to see who bought what.

Comedy in the Cafe starts at 7pm on Thursday 28 June in the cafe at Foyles on Charing Cross Road. Entry price is one book, £4.99 or more. Photo of Bridget Christie by Claes Gellerbrink.
