Ticket Alert: Skunk Anansie, Maxïmo Park, Cypress Hill And More

Skunk AnansieIf this week's weather has been getting you down, how about a gig or two to lift your spirits? Here are some choice events on sale this Friday.

Skin and the rest of reformed rockers Skunk Anansie have a new album out this year and will end their European tour at O2 Academy Brixton on 1 December. Tickets £25 + bf, available from 9am.

Maxïmo Park have been quiet since their lacklustre third album – perhaps because lead singer Paul Smith released a solo album before getting the band back together to work on record four. That's now in the can, and they'll make their London live return at Heaven on 8 June. Tickets £16 + bf, from 9am.

If we're talking bands with umlauts, heavy metal legends Motörhead still do a good line in filthy, cliched rock and roll – even though they've been going since 1975. See them at O2 Academy Brixton on 17 November. Tickets £34 + bf, from 9am.

We've already previewed the Somerset House Summer Series. This year, acts playing the 18th century courtyard include Tim Minchin, Tindersticks and The Temper Trap. Tickets from £22.50 + bf, from 9am.

Hip hop legends Cypress Hill are returning to London for their first headline show in two years. You'll have to grab tickets quick to catch them at the HMV Forum on 5 June. Pick them up from 9am for £25 + bf.

Also booking this week: The Ting Tings and The Polyphonic Spree.
