Given the climate of our fair city, sleeping in public is for most of the year confined to people on public transport, those without a choice (the homeless) and those too drunk to stand.

So while in summertime, Londoners can snatch a sneaky lunchtime nap on the grass, a bench, or, as above, on a wall, the rest of the year, snoozing alfresco is not much fun at all.

And it's striking, when looking through this selection of shots, how vulnerable people look, whether they are rough sleepers or dozy commuters. Summer napping aside, Londoners should be asleep in their beds, not on the streets.
