Hammersmith Flyover To Close For Two Days

The wobbly west London flyover will be closed by TfL for repairs on Sunday 22 and Sunday 29 April.

It was closed temporarily last year after a whistleblower contacted the Fulham and Hammersmith Chronicle to say that it was unsafe and in danger of collapse. For a really in-depth explanation from our engineering brethren on what the problem actually was, see here. It was later re-opened with one lane in each direction but, as it's a major route into London, tailbacks have been severe.

During the two Sunday closures, engineers will install new cables above and below the bridge deck. TfL hopes the flyover will be fully open in June and is pleased to announce the originally-planned full weekend closures aren't necessary.
