The V&A's blockbuster show, British Design 1948-2012: Innovation in the Modern Age has been open since the end of March. But being all about innovation (and, we guess, returning visitors), there are a few mini-shows popping up under the British Design umbrella.
One such micro-exhibition opens this week. Kitty and the Bulldog: Lolita fashion and the influence of Britain is a free, one-room show, exhibiting eight outfits recently bought in Tokyo for the V&A's permanent collections.
Kitty and the Bulldog looks at how British fashion – in particular Victoriana, Punk and Gothic – has influenced the development of Japan's "Lolita" style, a cult fashion movement with a defining preoccupation with cuteness, or "kawaii".
Any Japanophiles should get down there before January next year when this exhibition closes.
