Hackney Homemade Food Market Kicks Off This Saturday

There's a new food and drink market coming to Hackney tomorrow and from then on every Saturday from 11am to 4pm. Held on the grounds of St John at Hackney church (an easy peasy shuffle from Hackney Central Overground Station), Hackney Homemade Food will see artisan producers selling breads, cakes, cheeses, meat, game, fruit and veg, chutneys and pickles set up alongside stalls offering ready to treats such as home made sausages, salt beef burgers, katsu curry and quesadillas.

Sounds delish, and very East End. Keeping with the local vibe, HHF will "embrace Hackney’s creative side” as well with regular art installations and community projects set to complement the food on offer. Tomorrow's market will host an incognito resident artist painting with veggies instead of brushes, with the end product being auctioned off and proceeds going to St John’s. Another regular highlight will be a pop-up teashop run by Haggerston Tearooms, featuring a large selection of loose leaf teas, herbal infusions and even the chance to create your own blend.

More info about the market, upcoming activities and a rather mouthwatering list of vendors can be found at www.hackneyhomemade.com/food.

St John's at Hackney is located at Lower Clapton Road, E5 0PD.
