Hofesh Schechter, a choreographer renowned for creating both the movement and music for his choreographic works - remember Political Mother? - starts January 2012 with music only for the world premiere of Survivor, a concert in collaboration with sculptor Antony Gormley.
As Gormley puts it: “Survivor is a work by Hofesh Shechter, interrupted and reconstructed by Antony Gormley.” Gormley presents a visual landscape for Hofesh’s strong percussive music, which has his signature dark style and visceral essence.
With a 30-strong band of drummers, electric guitarists and strings the atmospheric and emotional Survivor is about seeds of feeling, the search for continuity and the deconstruction of spectacle.
The world premiere of 'Survivor' takes place at Barbican Centre, 12-14 January 2012 at 7.45pm. Tickets are £16- £34.
