Club Watch: Down To The Christmas Woods @ The Jackalope

Intended to make some crafty Christmas gifts but lazily opted for boxed sets of toiletries and an El Divo CD instead? Well you can be redeemed by heading to Down To The Christmas Woods tonight (8 December), for an evening of magical acoustic faerie folk and craftadelic fun.

The club at Stoke Newington’s The Jackalope provides a raft of crafting materials for attendees to make anything from Sock Monkey Santas and alternative nativity scenes to Christmas candles. You can take home whatever you make and give it to your mam to put on her mantelpiece. She'll love it.

Of course, to get you in the Christmas spirit there’s a brilliant music line up too, including upcoming folk artists Emma Tricca, Olivia Cheney and Our Feathered Embers, as you would expect from a night co-hosted by Lee Gofton formerly of the truly wonderful twee indie types Alfie and Faire Raven. (I love Alfie - DN)

Down To The Christmas Woods, Thursday 8 December, Doors 8pm, The Jackalope (formerly Stokey's Records Bar - under Luigi’s Trattoria), 98 Stoke Newington Church Street, N16 0AP, Tickets £5 adv and on the door.
