More Weekend Tube Closures Ahead

At least six tube lines will be partially-closed every weekend in November, TfL's planned works calendar reveals.

5 / 6 November
Circle, District, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan, Northern and Piccadilly lines are all closed or partly-closed.

12 / 13 November
Central, Circle, District, Hammersmith & City, Northern and Piccadilly lines are all closed or partly-closed.

19 / 20 November
Circle, District, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan, Northern and Victoria lines are all closed or partly-closed.

26 / 27 November
Circle, District, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan and Northern lines are all closed or partly-closed.

December isn't looking great either, with only three lines unaffected by closures between Boxing Day and New Year's Eve. Labour are taking the opportunity to urge Boris Johnson yet again to 'get a grip' on the seemingly ceaseless delays and closures on the underground but in the meantime, we suggest you go to plan B for your bonfire night outings.

This is a little misleading -- for example the Central line "closure" on 12 / 13 November is between Loughton and Epping, but the other 95% (ish) of the line should be working fine. Same with the District line -- a number of the closures are on the Wimbledon through Edgware Road section, leaving the bulk of the line (the Richmond / Ealing to Upminster section) operational.

December *is* looking great.
On the three shopping weekends before Christmas, the only line closures are
a) before 9am on Sunday mornings on one arm of the Northern line
b) the City end of the Metropolitan line, which has alternative services
c) nothing else
TfL deserve a huge round of applause for minimising disruption during this key retail period.
*After* Christmas, that's when passenger numbers are at their lowest, and even then the closures are nothing special.
December *is* looking great. Labour's press release is merely misleading scaremongering.
