Standing by the side of York Way – feet from the site of her death – friends and strangers last night gathered to mourn the passing of Min Joo Lee, known as Deep Lee, who was struck by an HGV on a notorious King's Cross junction at the start of this month. She was aged just 24.
Mortality is something we avoid, and yet surrounding the white bike – kindly donated by someone who didn't know her – was a diverse crowd of Londoners. Many did not know her, they had no obvious need to shed tears – yet they did.
London showed Deep Lee its best and worst in the short time she was with us.
May she rest in peace.
