TODAY: International Paralympic Day In Trafalgar Square

Nearly one hundred international athletes will be in Trafalgar Square today to help celebrate International Paralympic Day.

Tickets for the Paralympics go on sale at 9am on Friday 9 September. If you're not already champing at the bidding bit with a highly organised schedule of sports you want to watch, all 20 Paralympic sports will be showcased on the Square with demonstrations and information booths to help you make up your mind.

There are sitting volleyball tournaments going on throughout the day, plus demos of rowing, wheelchair basketball, powerlifting, wheelchair rugby, wheelchair tennis, athletics, and culminating in a blind penalty shoot-out. To close the day is a formal bit as the International Paralympic Committee extend an invitation to athletes and National Paralympic Committees around the world to participate in the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

International Paralympic Day is in Trafalgar Square between 8.15am-7.30pm and is free to attend. Paralympic tickets go on sale Friday morning.
