Over A Million Paralympic Tickets Applied For

LOCOG are reporting 'unprecedented demand' for Paralympic tickets following the first application deadline on Monday.

Online applications show that:

Out of the 300 ticketed sessions available, 126 are oversubscribed in at least one price category across the following Paralympic sports: Archery, Athletics, Boccia, Track Cycling, Equestrian Dressage, Football, Goalball, Judo, Rowing, Shooting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Wheelchair Basketball, Wheelchair Fencing, Wheelchair Rugby and the Olympic Park Day Pass.

The Guardian also notes that, although over a million tickets were applied for, the number of individuals applying for tickets was 116,000 compared to the 1.9 million who applied for Olympic tickets.

So while it's great news for the Paralympics that there's so much interest in spectating their Games, it's not bad news for applicants even though some sessions will go to ballot. If you spread your bets chances are you'll end up with something you wanted.

If you're successful, funds will be debited from your bank account by 31 October. You'll receive official notification of your tickets by 18 November. The remaining tickets will go on sale on a first come, first served basis in December.
