Preview: Greenwich Comedy Festival 2011

Phill Jupitus, Tim Minchin, Holly Walsh, Kevin Eldon, Frisky and Mannish and Angelos Epithemiou are amongst the acts bound for the big top at the Old Royal Naval Hospital for this year's Greenwich Comedy Festival.

Most of these comics will be fresh (or frazzled) from Edinburgh and perhaps thankful to be performing in such refined and civilised surroundings after a month in a hot box up north. Each night sees a top notch mixed bill - that's four acts - which just about justifies the ticket costs of £18.50 and up. Monday's show is already sold out so get a move on with that ticket buying. Peruse the line-up here.

Family funny fans note: there's a comedy club for kids on Sunday at 3.30pm, tickets just £5. Adam Buxton fans - BUG is on Saturday afternoon, tickets £15 and Phill Jupitus does an impro show with friends on Saturday at 5pm.

The site will be free entry with shows priced individually. So if you don't give a toss about comedy you can still stroll around and take in the fun, food and festival vibe. A little top will house a loungey area with free music and cabaret and a comedy quiz on the Sunday. There are also Silent Discos on Friday and Saturday night.

Greenwich Comedy Festival runs from Monday 5 - Sunday 11 September at the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich. Buy tickets online.
