A survey by Global Language Monitor, which tracks the frequency of words and phrases across print, electronic and social media has officially awarded London the top spot, which New York had claimed the previous year.
The huge surge in media interest has been fuelled by the Duchess of Cambridge's stylish wedding and subsequent transformation into a "fashion icon", and the suicide of British designer, Alexander McQueen.
London and New York are followed by Paris, Milan, LA, and Hong Kong.
Can London hold on to the top spot, post Kate-mania? Well, fashion’s certainly about to have its moment come September. As well as London Fashion Week, fashionistas in the capital can look forward to Vogue Fashion's Night Out, Carnaby Catwalk, High Street Fashion Week, the London College of Fashion's much-anticipated College Shop and of course, the arrival of the new Westfield at Stratford. We're pretty confident Londoners will still be talking about fashion for another month at least...
