To celebrate its 35th year of business, mega-big Japanese grocery Japan Centre is offering a range of promotions until the end of the month with freebies, discounts, a raffle and special tasting events.

On Tuesday 23 August, Orrery will host a cigar tasting evening in partnership with Hunters and Frankau. A cigar expert will be on hand to enlighten guests on points of style, taste, profile and the production techniques of the finest hand-rolled Cuban cigars. Guests will also be able to enjoy two premium plantation rums selected to pair perfectly. Tickets cost £35. The event begins at 6.30pm.

From Wednesday the 24 to Friday 26, Soho Square to be transformed into “Fika Square” where fika – the Swedish version of the English high tea – will be served each day from 12.30 to 2.30pm. Aided by a team of “traditionally dressed Swedish old ladies”, Swedish pastry chef and chocolatier Jan Hedh will be on hand to indulge guests with special blended coffee and a range of tradition Swedish cookies. A pop up Fika Parlor will be available for bookings of up to six people per table and reservations can be made by emailing reservations@fikasquare.co.uk. The Fika Pop Up Picnic will be on a first come, first served basis.

Planet Organic, the UK's largest fully certified organic supermarket group, has announced the opening of a fifth London outlet. This one at Devonshire Square in The City. The new Planet Organic Devonshire Square will offer fresh, seasonal food to take away and a café along with a complete range of organic and natural products.
