A pie and a pint is a most satisfying combination, don't you agree? To help you make the most of British Pie Week here is a top ten of pubs that serve the best pies in London, according to our friends at Disagree? Tell us where your favourite pastry and pintage can be found in the comments.

- The Kenton3P_sl.jpg (Homerton)
Handsome Victorian pub near Victoria Park serving Pieminster Pies.

- Melton Mowbray3P_sl.jpg (Farringdon)
Fuller's Ale and Pie pub near the legal district with excellent beer and pies.

- The Old Bank of England3P_sl.jpg (Fleet Street)
Have a pie near the home of the Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

- Hardy's3P_sl.jpg (Greenwich)
Locals pub in Greenwich with great homemade pies.

- Windmill (Soho)
Young's pub which has won pie of the year for their Steak and Kidney pie - superb, and excellent chips.

- Betsey Trotwood (Clerkenwell)
Go here for the 'pie of the day' from Borough Market and an excellent pint of Shepherd Neame's beers.

- Guinea3P_sl.jpg (Mayfair)
There's been a pub here since the 15th century and the time-proven combination of award-winning pies and Young's beer are fantastic.

- Newman Arms (Fitzrovia)
Tiny pub with an upstairs 'Pie Room' - probably the best pies in London, in our opinion.

- The Royal Oak (Borough)
Outpost of Suffolk Brewery Harveys with great pies on the menu every day to complement the great beer.

- The Camel (Bethnal Green)
A pub we've known for a few years now that has maintained an excellent standard for their pie menu and their interesting beers.

It's about going to pub and eating pies at

No Bree Louise??? Who compiled this list?

Honourable mention must also go to the Globe, on the corner of Moorgate and London Wall. Though I'd advise giving it a miss on Friday lunchtimes, because they're very busy. The service is so great they'll take the time to tell you how busy they are, though. :)

How can The Kenton be up there when the pies pre bought and served with the most watery lumpy mash I have ever had. What about all those wonderful pubs with homemade pies?

Rather far out east perhaps but The Black Lion in Plastow is worth a visit. Great food cooked on the premises, for a very reasonable price. Sells good beer and has a nice beer garden too. I used to work near by and miss it greatly. http://www.blacklionplaistow.c...

Just to be clear, this is not a random recommendation. They do make and sell great pie :-)

Melton Mowbray (Farringdon) and The Old Bank of England (Fleet Street)?!! Seriously?! - this is the least researched list I've seen in a long time!

Gadzooks I'm craving beer and pie now

I second the Bree Louise as a massive oversight on this list ... not just great pies, but great beers to boot!

The Chamberlayne in Kensal Rise does a suberb Chicken & Mushroom Pie! The place is always rammed.

Now I'm a pie fanatic and have been bitterly disappointed to the point of not buying pies for two years then I thought no hold on i like pies. Everyone knows the best pies are hand made not machine gunge like those we've all had at times that put people off pies for life. So I started searching.
I've tried the supposed best and they're rubbish, full of soup and little specks of meat -for real excellence try Turners which are average but consistent or my number one is Dees Pies from the Fulham's parsons nose. i would say that none compare when you try them regularly to Dees - just as they are full of meat and and the pastry is thin so I don't feel like I've eaten all the pies the next day. If you try them i think she only sells them in certain places so hard to find, and hasn't stared on line order yet but their site says coming soon. I had a steak and ale and there where 9 large pieces of steak, I counted them I'm so sad but seriously why don't they all do this, go for it Dees my kids love em.
