The British Olympic Association has confirmed that British weightlifters will take up host nation places for Team GB in 2012.
Up to 5 athletes will compete but all must consistently meet the British Weight Lifting A Standard to qualify.
Good news for Greenwich A Level student, Zoe Smith, who peaked last year with a bronze medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games but troughed when her Lottery funding was withdrawn by British Weight Lifting before Christmas. Fortunately, the funding was reinstated recently following renewed efforts on the part of the teenager. She can now set her sights on Olympic lifting in the ExCel Arena for 2012. Go Zoe!
