Dance Preview: Spring Loaded @ The Place

In the wake of Resolution! and its very mixed bag comes Spring Loaded. With difficulty, we've cherry picked 4 things from the properly excellent programme, literally loaded with fresh dance talent.

Genuinely exciting is the return of Probe to the Place with a new collaboration combining the marvellous Antonia Groves, Lost Dog's Ben Duke and performer/musician Scott Smith. We love Probe. We do. Trailer! May is performed on 4 & 5 of, um, May.

What happens when South Asian classical dance meets hip hop? Kathakbox, that's what. Sonia Sabri + Jonzi D + poet Zena Edwards = dance and multi-lingual spoken word mash-up on 7 May.

If you're coulrophobic stay away from the UK premiere from Frauke Requardt, choreographer of Electric Hotel, with Episode (pictured). You can witness this unusual and darkly atmospheric, risk taking piece commissioned by the Place on 3 & 4 June.

To round off a completely ace programme the fabulous dancers of Hofesh Shechter Company take a break from touring their boss' work and show off 5 new works created by themselves. In Good Company is on 18 June.

If you've ever dabbled with getting into contemporary dance but didn't know where to start this is where.

Spring Loaded is at the Place from 4 May - 18 June. Tickets £6 advance, £13 standard.
