Preview: ProLondon Conference

A who's-who of Left-leaning Londoners will gather this weekend to rally against the spending cuts. Congress House is the place to be on Saturday for anyone opposing the budget shake-up. The ProLondon Conference — a slightly cheeky contraction of Progressive London, implying that the other side of the debate are somehow anti-London — will tackle a mixed-bag of themes, from student fees to airport expansion.

The speaker list includes everyone you'd expect, and more. Heading the bill is 'once and future Mayor' Ken Livingstone, who launched Progressive London a few years back. He's joined by over a quarter of  London Assembly members, six MPs and an MEP. Other notable names include critic Bonnie Greer, comedian Josie Long and artist Mark Wallinger, as well as Guardian journalist and Londonist friend Dave Hill.

With around 100 listed speakers, it's going to be quite an intense meeting. If you'd like to squeeze into the audience, tickets cost £10 (£6 for the wageless).

Update: Contrary to previous reports, we're told tickets are still available.
