Twickenham Bright Spark Sells Old Incandescent Bulbs

An electronics shop in Twickenham is filling a gap in the market by sniffing out the country's remaining 100 watt incandescent light bulbs and flogging them to an apparently delighted public. The old-style bulbs with a power of 100W or more were banned in September 2009 and 75W went last year, but hatred of the energy saving ones and some kind of nostalgia has brought customers flocking to Orbit Electronics.

We bring you this news in case you're pining for what some people consider the 'warmer' light - and tinkle of metal against glass when the damn things blow - in a spirit of slight bafflement and evangelism for fluorescent ones. They come on immediately now, honest, last for years and cost less to run. We've never quite understood the lightbulb wars; if you're a diehard fan of the old bulby bulbs, pause a moment before stepping on that South West train and tell us why.
